When researching Korean plastic surgery clinics, you'll encounter various certifications. Understanding these helps distinguish quality facilities from marketing hype.

JCI (Joint Commission International) accreditation is the gold standard for international healthcare. JCI-accredited hospitals meet rigorous safety and quality standards. However, only about 30 Korean hospitals hold this certification, and many excellent plastic surgery clinics operate without it simply because they're specialized facilities rather than full hospitals.

KAHF (Korean Association of Health Promotion) certification is more common and still indicates quality management. Many reputable clinics hold this certification, demonstrating commitment to patient safety standards.

Beyond certifications, look for: surgeon board certification by the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, clinic registration with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and transparent before/after galleries. Word-of-mouth recommendations from previous patients often prove most valuable.

Remember, certifications indicate systems and processes, but individual surgeon skill requires separate evaluation through portfolios and consultations.
