Zygoma (cheekbone) reduction surgery recovery experiences?
Zygoma ReductionI have prominent cheekbones that make my face look wide from the front. I am considering zygoma reduction surgery in Korea. I understand this is a major surgery that involves cutting and repositioning the cheekbone. Can anyone share their recovery experience? How long were you in Korea post-surgery? When did you feel comfortable being seen in public? I am particularly worried about the potential for sagging skin after the bone is reduced. Did anyone experience this? Also, how long until you could sleep normally without worrying about the surgical site?

Zygoma (cheekbone) reduction repositions the bone to narrow the face, and it is indeed major surgery. Most patients stay in Korea about 2 weeks for stitch removal and the first follow-up; visible swelling eases over 2–4 weeks with final results at 6–12 months. Your concern about sagging (cheek droop) is valid — it is the main trade-off when the bony support is reduced, so the surgeon's fixation technique matters, and patients with thinner skin or older age are at higher risk; some surgeons add support or recommend it be combined with lifting. Sleeping elevated for the first weeks and wearing any prescribed compression helps. Choose a surgeon who does cheekbone work routinely.
