Had super prominent cheekbones that made my face look really wide and angular. Consulted for cheekbone reduction and here's what went down.
Surgery is similar to jaw reduction - incisions inside mouth, they fracture and move the cheekbone inward. Mine was about 2 hours. Stayed at the hospital one night.
Woke up wrapped in bandages looking like a mummy. Face was SO swollen I couldn't open my eyes properly for like 2 days. I was NOT prepared for how bad the swelling would be tbh. Looked absolutely crazy for the first 2 weeks.
The hardest part was the numbness. My whole cheek area felt weird and tingly for MONTHS. Doc kept saying it was normal but it freaked me out. It's mostly back to normal now at 8 months but there's still a tiny numb spot.
Ate soft foods for about 3 weeks. Rice porridge became my best friend lol. Lost weight from that too.
BUT. The results are amazing. My face is so much more oval shaped now. Less harsh, more feminine. I actually photograph well now instead of my cheekbones looking super wide in every pic.
It's a big surgery with a long recovery. But if you really hate your cheekbones like I did, it works.
