fat grafting to my face - plumped everything up nicely

Mid 40s and my face was looking deflated. Hollow cheeks hollow temples deep lines around my mouth. Made me look tired and older than I felt. Looked into fat grafting as a more permanent solution than fillers.
The idea is they take fat from somewhere else (my stomach in my case - bonus!) and inject it into your face. Takes a couple hours.
The weird thing about fat grafting is they have to OVERFILL because not all the fat survives. So I walked out of there looking like a overstuffed pillow lol. Very puffy. My husband was like uhhhh. I was like just wait.
Swelling took about 2-3 weeks to calm down. During that time I looked kinda crazy but whatever. Around month 2-3 the fat that didn't survive was absorbed and my face settled into its final shape.
Now at 5 months I look so much more youthful. Cheeks are fuller, temples filled in, nasolabial folds way softer. The fat that survived is basically permanent which is the best part. Plus my stomach is slightly flatter lol.
The unpredictable part is how much fat survives. My doc said about 60-70% which is good. Some people keep less which means touch up might be needed.
