finally got braces at 31 - invisalign review

Had crooked teeth my whole life because my parents couldn't afford braces when I was a kid. Finally did it myself at 31 with Invisalign.
The process: I got scanned (no gross molds), they showed me a 3D preview of how my teeth would move, and I got a box of like 30 aligners to change every 2 weeks.
The reality: first few aligners HURT. Like my teeth were sore constantly. Taking them in and out was annoying too - had to do it for every meal. No more casual snacking. Lost a few pounds actually because I was too lazy to take them out for snacks lol.
The trays are pretty invisible but I did have these little attachments (bumps) glued to some teeth to help them move. Those were more visible. Some people noticed, most didn't.
The discipline required is real. You're supposed to wear them 22 hours a day. I'll admit I wasn't always perfect with that, especially on weekends. Probably why my treatment ended up being 20 months instead of the predicted 16.
But NOW. My teeth are straight. Like actually straight. I smile in photos confidently for the first time in my life. At 31. Better late than never.
I have to wear retainers at night forever now apparently or teeth can shift back. Small price to pay.
If you're an adult thinking about straightening your teeth - just do it. Wish I'd done it sooner.
